Beth Knutson, DVM — Chief of Staff
Dr. Beth Knutson, our Chief of Staff, has been caring for pets at Bellwood Animal Hospital since 2006. Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Knutson received her B.S. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 2002. She received her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Dr. Beth's professional interests include surgery and dermatology.
Mark Grove, DVM
Dr. Mark Grove has been caring for pets at Bellwood Animal Hospital since 1986. He attended Sauk Valley Community College, earning an Associate of Science, and later Eastern Illinois University, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Science. Dr. Grove completed his education with a DVM degree at the University Of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. He has special veterinary interests in orthopedics, dermatology and internal medicine.
Kathryn Korpan, DVM
Dr. Kathryn Korpan grew up in McHenry and is excited to return to Northern Illinois. In 2007, she graduated from Carthage College in WI in 2007 where she received a bachelor's degree in biology. Dr. Korpan later attended the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2011. Following graduation, she pursued a year-long internship focused on small animal medicine and surgery at Carolina Veterinary-Specialists in Charlotte, NC. Upon completion of her internship, Dr. Korpan practiced in Charlottesville and Williamsburg, VA.
Laura Lind, DVM
Dr. Laura Lind began working at Bellwood Animal Hospital in 2014. She attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and earned a bachelor's degree in animal sciences in 2005. Dr. Lind worked for five years in the veterinary field as a technician. She later returned to the University of Illinois where she earned a DVM degree in 2014 to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian. Dr. Lind's special veterinary interests include ophthalmology and cytology.
Katie Spoo, DVM
Dr. Katie Spoo is a native of Charleston, IL and attended Eastern Illinois University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in biological sciences in 2004. She received her veterinary education at the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine, was awarded her DVM degree in 2009, and has practiced at Bellwood Animal Hospital since that time. Ultrasound, dentistry, and exotic animal husbandry, medicine, and surgery are among her many professional veterinary interests.
Dr. Spoo enjoys a number of hobbies in her spare time including geocaching, visiting zoos, and studying taekwondo and jiujitsu.
Susan Shipley, DVM
Dr. Susan Shipley grew up in St. Paul and currently resides in Lake in the Hills, IL. She received an undergraduate degree from the College of St. Benedict and earned a DVM degree from the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Prior to joining the Bellwood Animal Hospital team, Dr. Shipley practiced at Banfield and the Animal Care Clinic. Her special veterinary interests include feline medicine, dermatology, and acupuncture.
In her spare time, Dr. Shipley enjoys travelling, cooking, and scrap booking. She is married, has a daughter, and also shares her home with her pets.
